On the Kogworks packaging is the phrase "Turn the gears of your mind". That's definitely the case with this deceptively simple but fiendishly tricky strategy game.  When I first saw it, I thought it looked pretty easy.  With a strong background in chess, I'm pretty good at looking ahead and planning.  By about the 10th move, although my opponent was impressed by my skill, he still beat me.  And I was impressed by the challenge!

The aim is to place your cogs strategically across the board so that eventually you can turn the gold cog when you turn your base cog.  In the meantime, you also have to try and block your opponent from successfully creating a trail too.

So far it sounds easy.  Add in that you must be able to turn your base wheel after every move, you can't form a triangle of 3 wheels in the same colour and a couple of restrictions on where you can place cogs, and it suddenly gets a whole lot harder. 

Kogworks can be played by 2 players aged 6-106. 

The game includes 1 game board with 55 pegs, 1 gold cogwheel, 30 red & blue cogwheels and a game book.
